Toh Puan Na’imah Khalid, wife of former minister Tun Daim Zainudin, has dismissed allegations that she attempted to topple the government, describing them as false, preposterous, and politically timed. She claimed the individual who lodged a police report against her at Brickfields police station acted out of personal grudges after failing to secure a role in her communications team and later making monetary demands.
Plot allegations
Na’imah argued that the timing of the report, seven months after the alleged meeting, coincided with mounting scandals involving the government and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission. She questioned how international media or public relations firms could realistically topple a government, stressing that professional PR advice should not be criminalized.
Referring to a Bloomberg investigative article published in September 2024, she clarified that credit belongs to the journalists, not her, and rejected claims linking her to the report. Na’imah accused authorities of weaponising institutional powers to silence dissent. Inspector General of Police Mohd Khalid Ismail confirmed the case is being investigated under Section 124B for activities detrimental to parliamentary democracy.
