KOTA BHARU, Oct 25 — The Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) has reiterated that Malaysians must prioritise mastering Bahasa Melayu before other languages. DBP Board of Governors member Ahmad Fadhlil Mohamad Pakarul Razy said a strong command of the national language shapes national identity and intellect.

Speaking at the Karnival Lestari Bahasa 2025 in Kelantan, he emphasised that learning foreign languages remains important for knowledge and employment but should not undermine Bahasa Melayu. He added that ongoing efforts are vital to ensure Bahasa Melayu remains relevant in the spheres of knowledge, economy, and technology.
