A discussion has erupted online after a social media user raised concerns about the design pattern on a prayer mat from a local brand, claiming the motif appeared to resemble a cross-like symbol when viewed closely. The user argued that since the prayer mat is used during prayer, any design that resembles non-Islamic religious symbols could be considered inappropriate.
Social Media Debate Over Prayer Mat Design Pattern
The user shared images of the prayer mat design, claiming the pattern could clearly be interpreted as a cross in certain parts of the motif. However, other users suggested that the pattern may simply be the result of a mirrored floral design, arguing that it might not have been intentionally created to resemble any religious symbol.
The discussion quickly gained traction online, with some calling for greater care in product design for religious items while others urged people not to jump to conclusions without clarification from the brand. As of now, Naelofar has not publicly responded to the viral debate surrounding the prayer mat pattern.
Regardless, mistakes are bound to happen when it comes to manufacturing consumer goods. On top of that, some aren’t able to see any “symbols” on the prayer mat.
