Nicky Lazou, a Dubai-based beauty entrepreneur and single mother, was stranded in London when the Middle East crisis disrupted flights. Her five-year-old son remained in Dubai with their nanny, prompting her to spend $2,500 to return home.

Lazou flew to Oman for $1,730, then hired a driver to the UAE border for $430, and finally took a $250 taxi to Dubai. She described the journey as smooth but emotionally urgent, driven by her responsibility to reunite with her son and care for her family. Despite the shock of hearing planes overhead, Lazou expressed faith in Dubai’s safety and resilience.
