The targeted diesel subsidy is expected to save RM4 billion, providing the government with greater fiscal space to enhance public services. The Ministry highlighted the necessity to retarget fuel subsidies to meet the fiscal deficit goal of 3.5% to 3.0% of GDP by 2025, and clarified that ongoing programs are interconnected and support the government’s development agenda.
