A 39-year-old former construction worker in Selangor discovered his employer never contributed to his EPF, despite showing monthly deductions on his payslips for seven years. He lost nearly RM20,000, while the employer avoided over RM40,000 in payments.

In another case, a nurse at a private hospital found her EPF funds missing too—revealing a widespread scam. Over 13,000 companies are now under investigation for EPF evasion. From January to June 2024 alone, more than 4,000 civil and criminal cases were filed. EPF urges employees to regularly check their i-Akaun to avoid falling victim to these deceitful practices.
