KOTA KINABALU — Datuk Ewon Benedick has resigned from the Federal Cabinet, citing principle over Sabah’s 40% revenue entitlement under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63). The Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister said his decision followed a review of the Kota Kinabalu High Court’s written judgment on the Sabah Law Society’s judicial review case.

He expressed strong disagreement with the Attorney-General’s Chambers’ interpretation, saying it disregarded Malaysia’s founding agreements. Ewon, who also leads the United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO), said his resignation letter will be submitted to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. – November 8, 2025
