Former deputy law minister Mohamed Hanipa Maidin has criticized the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (SPRM) for raiding the home of businessman Albert Tei despite his lawyer confirming a date for him to give a statement.
Ex-Deputy Minister’s Statement
Hanipa argued that while SPRM has the authority to investigate corruption, the use of aggressive tactics was unnecessary against someone who posed no security threat. Video footage showed officers in tactical gear arresting Tei, who shouted “lawan tetap lawan” before being taken away.
Hanipa likened the raid to practices under the BN era, expressing concern that such approaches are resurfacing under the current Madani administration.
