Fake Job Scam: Electrocution, and Forced Pork Consumption in Cambodia

A 36-year-old satay seller from Johor, was lured to Cambodia with a fake job offer promising USD1,500 monthly. Upon arrival, he was drugged, trapped in a scam syndicate’s headquarters, and forced to work 14-hour shifts impersonating Malaysian authorities.

Failure to meet targets led to electrocution, starvation, and forced consumption of pork. His friend, who introduced the job, earned a commission for each victim sold. Joe eventually escaped with four others after contacting Skudai ADUN Marina Ibrahim. 

He revealed that over 40 Malaysians were trapped. His ordeal underscores the dangers of overseas job scams and the need for thorough verification.
