Foreign Labourer Charged with Causing Death in Jalan Ipoh Crash

A foreign worker, Atique Zaman, 39, pleaded not guilty in the Kuala Lumpur Magistrates’ Court to a charge of reckless driving that caused the death of pedestrian Muhammad Redzuan Jamal on June 13 at Jalan Ipoh. He was driving a black Nissan Sylphy when the incident occurred.

Foreign Labourer Charged with Causing Death in Jalan Ipoh Crash

Charged under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, he faces up to 10 years’ jail and a RM50,000 fine, if convicted. Bail was set at RM20,000 with two local sureties. The court also suspended his licence, imposed reporting conditions, and barred contact with witnesses. The case will be mentioned again on August 11.
