Delap Double Fires Forest to 3-1 Win Over Man City

Liam Delap scored twice against his former club as Nottingham Forest inflicted a 3-1 Man City defeat at the City Ground in the Premier League on Saturday (Nov 7), Dave Sport reported. It was Manchester City’s third league loss in a row.

Forest led 2-0 at half-time through goals from Jair Cunha and Delap, before Rayan Cherki pulled one back for the visitors early in the second half. Delap then sealed the win midway through the second period.

Early Forest goals stun City

Oliver Glasner’s side went ahead in the sixth minute when Cunha took the ball off Josko Gvardiol and finished from just inside the area, according to Sportsdunia. City appealed for a foul, but referee Sam Barrott let the goal stand.

Forest doubled their lead in the 18th minute. A mix-up between City’s Iliman Ndiaye and Elliot Anderson allowed Xaver Schlager to win possession, and the ball broke to Delap, who scored.

City manager Enzo Maresca took off Gvardiol at half-time and sent on Nico O’Reilly. Cherki reduced the deficit in the 52nd minute with a left-footed half-volley into the top corner.

Delap seals Man City defeat

Delap restored Forest’s two-goal cushion in the 73rd minute, converting a pass from Morgan Gibbs-White for his second goal of the afternoon.

Forest’s James McAtee and Dan Ndoye were both booked during the match. Sportsdunia named Delap its man of the match and noted it was Forest’s first home league win of the season.

Man City slide continues

The result was Forest’s second league win of the campaign and lifted them to nine points, having started the day on six points from nine games.

City, who won their first seven league matches of the season, have now lost three straight. They stay on 21 points, six behind leaders Arsenal, going into the international break.
