Former Lecturer Turns to E-Hailing to Support Family

NILAI – Despite holding a doctorate and serving more than two decades in academia before retiring as an associate professor, Dr Nik Rahim Nik Wajis, 62, now works as an e-hailing driver to sustain his large family. His monthly income dropped drastically from around RM10,000 to just RM2,000 in pension, leaving him responsible for six school-going children out of 16, alongside three households.

Determined not to burden his older children, he chose to continue working. Besides driving, he also works as a property agent, motivated by his duty as a husband and father rather than personal comfort.
