Former Minister Now Challenges Fears of Non-Malays in UiTM Admission Policy

Former law minister Zaid Ibrahim criticized Higher Education Minister Zambry Abdul Kadir for denying discussions on opening UiTM’s cardiac surgery program to non-bumiputera. Zaid urged for inclusivity, stating UiTM should admit all qualified Malaysians. 

Former Minister challenges fears of non-Malays entering UiTM 

He challenged fears of non-Malays in academia, emphasizing national need over past anxieties. Zambry refuted involvement, citing necessary considerations. Raja Amin Raja Mokhtar, however, disclosed UiTM’s agreement for a limited intake of non-bumiputera students. 

Senator Dr RA Lingeshwaran opposed, advocating for the continuation of UiTM’s exclusivity. Zaid stressed Malaysia’s medical expert deficit, pushing for open-mindedness in education to address current challenges effectively.
