KUALA LUMPUR: A former petrol station operator claims she lost more than RM157,000 after allegedly being deceived by a consultant linked to a non-governmental organisation who managed repayments to loan sharks. The 49-year-old woman, known only as Siti, said she paid RM234,000 to settle overlapping loans that initially totalled RM25,000.

She alleged the consultant, who claimed to be a police officer, failed to channel the full payments to lenders. Despite assurances that the balance would be resolved, she said RM157,690 remains unpaid. Siti was forced to sell her family’s oil and gas business, but loan sharks continue demanding payment.
