Lured by Free Chiang Mai Holiday Malaysian Abducted to Myanmar

A Malaysian individual was ensnared in a harrowing scheme after falling for a deceitful offer of a “free vacation” to Chiang Mai, Thailand, extended by an online acquaintance known as “Steven.” Despite initial suspicions about the unexpected generosity, the victim, David, eventually accepted the offer.

Chiang Mai Nightmare

Upon arriving at the International Airport, Steven failed to appear as agreed, leading to an unnerving twist. A taxi driver and another individual, seemingly Myanmar nationals, forcibly took David and his companion at gunpoint, seizing their passports and mobile phones. They were then sold to a scam compound in Laukkaing, Myanmar, after an arduous four-day journey through remote mountainous routes.
