Ops Tembok Raid on Entertainment Centre
In the first raid, at an entertainment centre in Jalan Chan Sow Lin, police detained 50 people aged between 19 and 44. They comprised 21 male patrons, five employees and 23 women believed to be working as customer service attendants, all Chinese nationals, as well as one local man.
“Checks found that the premises did not have a valid entertainment licence,” Fadil said, adding that it also lacked approval from the authorities to operate as an entertainment centre.
Police also found that foreign workers were employed without valid permits, did not have valid travel documents and were suspected of working as customer service attendants.
The case is being investigated under Section 4(1) of the Entertainment (Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur) Act 1992, Sections 6(1)(c) and 55B of the Immigration Act 1959/63, and Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1959/63. All the suspects will be brought before a magistrate for a remand application under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
Residence Allegedly Used as Gambling Den
In the second raid, at a residence in Persiaran KLCC, police arrested five men, a local and four Chinese nationals aged between 27 and 44, for allegedly taking part in gambling.
Police said the residence had been used as an illegal gambling den for the past three months, operating daily from 1am to 3am. All the suspects admitted to taking part and said they had been invited by acquaintances through social media.
Items seized included a table, four chairs, two dice, a bowl, 76 chips of various colours worth RM600, 52 playing cards and betting money totalling RM3,870.
The case is being investigated under Section 6(1) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953 and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63. The five suspects have been remanded for three days until Monday (Oct 26).
