GE16 Could Be Held Early Amid Growing Public Dissatisfaction

1 min read

Speculation is rising that Malaysia’s 16th General Election (GE16) may be held earlier than expected due to mounting pressure on Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s administration. BERSATU Information Chief Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz said UMNO division meetings indicate unease within the ruling coalition, hinting at election preparations. Speaking at the Kuala Kangsar Bersatu Division’s Annual Conference, he highlighted public dissatisfaction with the economy, rising living costs, and unpopular policies, warning that delaying GE16 would only fuel anger. “We face economic and financial crises alongside eroding public trust,” he said, suggesting that an early election may become inevitable.
