KUALA LUMPUR – Gerakan president Dominic Lau has denied allegations that his party opposes PAS taking the leadership of Perikatan Nasional (PN). While not openly endorsing PAS, Lau emphasised that Gerakan does not object to the Islamist party leading the coalition.

He said PN’s leadership model is still under discussion among its four component parties, with proposals including abolishing the chairman’s post in favour of a presidential or executive council. The chairman’s role has been vacant since Muhyiddin Yassin stepped down on Jan 1. PAS has staked a claim but its president Abdul Hadi Awang declined due to health reasons.
