A five-year-old girl died after the car she was travelling in with her father was hit from behind in a six-vehicle crash on Jalan Kuching, Kuala Lumpur, last Saturday at about 3.44pm.
The girl, who was in the rear passenger seat of a Perodua Bezza, died at Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) from severe head injuries. Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the crash involved five cars and a motorcycle travelling from the city centre towards Segambut.

Initial investigations found that as traffic moved slowly, the Bezza, driven by a 30-year-old local man, was struck from behind by a BYD Seal. The impact also involved a motorcycle before the Bezza spun into the right lane and hit a Nissan Almera, a Toyota Alphard and a Perodua Myvi.
The Bezza driver suffered a hand injury, while the 33-year-old Yamaha 135LC rider suffered head injuries. Both were treated at HKL. The other three drivers were unhurt.
The 24-year-old BYD Seal driver, who left the scene, has been traced. He is being treated for concussion at a private hospital in Damansara and remains under police watch.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving. Witnesses are urged to call Tun H.S. Lee Traffic Police Station at 03-2071 9999.
