PADANG BESAR, Aug 14 — An elderly man was arrested for allegedly setting fire to a care home in Kaki Bukit after being denied a trip to Kangar to obtain a hearing aid with his girlfriend, also a resident. Padang Besar police chief ACP Mohd Shokri Abdullah said the blaze, reported at 8.31am, began in the kitchen cupboard area before spreading to the main hall, destroying about 50% of it. Twenty residents were housed there. The Fire and Rescue Department and police forensics are investigating. The case is being probed under Section 435 of the Penal Code for mischief by fire.
