If the study finds that the GST benefits are clear, we will take it to the Cabinet. The final decision is not for the government to make, it’s for Parliament and if Parliament votes it, it will take nine months for it to be reintroduced. But does it benefit the people?
Tengku Zafrul, Minister of Finance said this yesterday and he adds that 175 countries had introduced GST because it contributed to their gross domestic product and because government tax revenue would be relatively low without GST revenue.
What he did not say is how will the people’s money be safe and secure, money that is to contribute to the wellbeing of the government in the first place? Another Jho Low may come and rob the country. Right?
