The Industrial Court awarded RM893,200 to Heng Hui Chuen, a former senior IT manager at Heineken Malaysia, after ruling her dismissal was unfair. Heng, who worked with Heineken for 21 years, was dismissed following a reorganisation by the company, which allegedly targeted her unjustly. The court found that the company’s claim of her poor performance was unsubstantiated and appeared to be a tool to hasten her exit, particularly under new technology director Tee Chin Yi, who placed her on a performance improvement plan. Heng received compensation for back wages and in lieu of reinstatement due to her consistent past achievements.
