KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 28 — PKR lawmaker Sim Tze Tzin has called on Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) to investigate the sharp increase in insurance premiums, which he says have surged by 30% to 70% in some cases.
Speaking at a press conference on November 27, Sim highlighted the need for scrutiny, stating, “If the Ministry of Domestic Trade can investigate a 10-sen hike in egg prices, BNM can certainly look into this significant rise in insurance premiums.”
Following his remarks, BNM issued a statement on November 28 directing insurance companies to review their repricing strategies to ensure fairer implementation.
