1938, the year when Sheila Cornish moved into her brand new home in Grangetown, Cardiff. After 85 years, she’s 91 years old now and proudly still calls it home. According to a Welsh news site, she has seen bombs dropping on her street during the second world war and the neighborhood was unrecognizable.
The house is a terraced house, a common find in the UK and Malaysia. She further mentioned that during the second world war, the government built an air raid shelter in the street. After surviving the war, her family continued living in the house and later on was gifted the house when she got married in 1955.
She further mentioned that her neighbourhood shops used to be bustling with business, but today it’s quiet. The British government later on removed most of the terraced houses in the area to build new flats. Now, isn’t it curious to think if you’d live in the same house for 8 decades.
