Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is suing Parti Islam Se-Malaysia Menteri Besar in Kedah, Sanusi Md Nor for defamation, but this has rattled the internet, with some netizens disagreeing and saying it is against free speech but since when is defamation and ‘maki-maki’ free speech?

Its a big question being debated on Twitter in particular and many users believe Anwar is right in suing the MB of Kedah who has a big mouth and has told Anwar, ‘See you in court’ in defiance. Nevertheless, Anwar suing him is the process of law in Malaysia, not suppression of the free speech of the Kedah MB says many netizens.

Sanusi made allegations that Anwar was “out of akhlak (morals)” among other allegations and Anwar contended that the statement was slanderous, false and disparaging to him. He claimed that the statement implied among others that he was not a good Muslim and abused his power in his political party to obtain a royal pardon.
