Islam is growing steadily in Japan, with over 230,000 Muslims by 2019, including 50,000 ethnic Japanese converts. Cultural resonance, spiritual curiosity, and global exposure drive this shift, though challenges like social acceptance and integration still persist.

Netizens say that it would now possibly be even easier to find Halal food. Sushi may soon come with a side of Halal certificates, says an X user. Previously for Muslims, it was difficult for them to visit Japan as the lack of Halal food is an issue. 

Some of the comments were unfortunately political, with some claiming that those who have converted should be “deported.” This is despite the locals being the ones who are converting.
