KUALA LUMPUR: Professor Datuk Dr Muhammad Nur Manuty, chairman of the Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia (IKIM), passed away at 11:27 am today at Sultan Idris Shah Hospital, Serdang, aged 76. His special officer, Firhan Rosli, described the loss as profound for Malaysia’s Muslim community, particularly in Islamic scholarship and da’wah. The funeral prayer is scheduled after Asar at Masjid Al-Umm, Bangi, followed by burial at Sungai Tangkas Muslim Cemetery. Appointed IKIM chairman in 2023, Muhammad Nur previously led Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin and was recently honored by Singapore’s Muslim Converts’ Association for his contributions.
