James Chai, former special functions officer to ex-economy minister Rafizi Ramli, has appointed two lawyers to engage with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). Currently UK-based, Chai refutes claims he evaded authorities, asserting he only received informal WhatsApp messages from cryptic usernames like “~Radio” after a public search notice sparked media frenzy.
