NEW: JB Police Hunt for 3 Suspects in Attempt to Kidnap S’pore Boy

The police in JB are searching for three men suspected of attempting to abduct a seven-year-old Singapore permanent resident, a Chinese national, along Jalan Serampang, Johor. The main suspect, a 41-year-old car mechanic and business partner of the victim’s father, was arrested, and police believe he was the mastermind behind the plan to kidnap the child and demand RM300,000 ($85,000) as ransom.

The father managed to overtake the getaway car, shattering its window and rescuing his son, but the abductors fled on foot. The police are now tracking down the three remaining suspects in their 30s.
