During former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak’s trial, his lawyers presented four letters supposedly from a Saudi prince, claiming they confirmed a US$681 million “Arab donation” received in his bank account. However, former 1MDB counsel Jasmine Loo testified that she witnessed Malaysian financier Jho Low instructing Kee Kok Thiam to create a letter from “Prince Saud” in 2015 to legitimize the funds as donations. Loo’s testimony aligns with the prosecution’s stance that the money wasn’t a genuine gift but linked to Najib’s alleged misconduct, leading the judge to question the authenticity of these “Arab donation” letters.
