Malaysia’s jobless rate remained steady at 3.0% in June 2025, with the number of unemployed falling to 518,700, according to the Department of Statistics Malaysia. Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin credited the sustained labour market growth to a robust economy, rising employment, and stable labour force participation at 70.8%.

Q2 2025 saw the labour force grow 0.8% to 17.37 million, while employment rose 0.9% to 16.85 million. Unemployment dropped 1.0% to 520,900. Mohd Uzir projects continued stability, supported by domestic demand, productivity gains, and job creation, though challenges such as talent migration and global trade tensions persist.
