Johor’s Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) has recorded 2,373 offences since the start of the year, with seizures worth more than RM11.6 million.

State director Lilis Saslinda Pornomo shared the figures at the state-level launch of the Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme (SHMMP) for Deepavali 2026 at NSK Trade City in Skudai.

Of the total, 1,774 cases fell under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011. They included failing to display clear price tags or lists, selling controlled items above the maximum price and unreasonable profiteering.

There were also 360 offences under the Weights and Measures Act 1972, 119 under the Control of Supplies Act 1961 and 66 under the Consumer Protection Act 1999. A further 54 offences fell under other laws, including the Trademarks Act and the Hire-Purchase Act.

During this year’s Chinese New Year and Hari Raya SHMMP, 879 offences were found in 1,537 inspections. The most common was failing to display the pink price tags required for controlled items.

Lilis Saslinda urged traders to follow four rules: don’t sell controlled items above the maximum price, display pink price tags, ensure adequate supply and use approved weighing instruments. KPDN Johor is also running the Jualan Rahmah Madani outdoor programme at selected locations.
