Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi criticised the recent autogate system failure at Malaysia’s border with Singapore, calling it an embarrassment that undermines the country’s image and investment efforts. He said the failure, which began at 3pm on Friday and persisted into Saturday afternoon, reflects poorly on the government’s competence, especially as Johor works with Singapore under the Special Economic Zone framework. Meanwhile, AKPS director-general Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain confirmed today that the autogate system for foreign visitors nationwide has been fully restored. Onn Hafiz urged federal authorities to prevent future disruptions and questioned why only Malaysia’s immigration system faced such issues, avoiding speculation on sabotage or hacking.
