The government is seeking higher salaries for Malaysians in return for the lower service and infrastructure costs that investors enjoy in the state, said Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi. Many Malaysians are considering moving to the state due to the improved salary ranges for both Diploma and Degree holders. In contrast, some companies in Kuala Lumpur continue to pay Degree holders significantly less. The disparity in salary ranges remains a persistent issue in Malaysia.
Johor Now Increasing Wages to RM4,000 and RM5,000
Others argue that this will drive up property prices and the cost of other amenities in the state’s capital city. Furthermore, they claim that Singaporeans are already contributing to rising service prices in the area.
Some users made offensive jokes about Johorean driving skills, claiming that their drivers are less cautious than those from other states. They suggested that there would be fewer Johor drivers in Kuala Lumpur as a result.
