Johor has reported a 97.3% increase in influenza-like illness (ILI) cases, rising from 409 cases in the fifth epidemiological week (Jan 26 – Feb 1) to 807 cases in the sixth week (Feb 2 – 8). However, no new clusters have been detected. State health chairman Ling Tian Soon reassured that the situation is under control but urged the public to maintain hygiene, monitor symptoms, and avoid crowded places when unwell. ILI, a common respiratory illness in Malaysia, requires vigilance but is not seasonal. The Health Department continues to monitor the situation closely.
