The Kelana Jaya LRT line has witnessed a record number of passengers in recent days. Trains are overcrowded to the point where passengers can no longer fit aboard. Malaysia’s LRTs and MRTs have reportedly reached their maximum capacity.
During rush hour, RapidKL, the train operator, has reduced train frequency from 3 minutes to 5 minutes per train, according to netizens. The repercussions can be observed right away at Pasar Seni station, which serves as a key MRT and LRT interchange.
The reduced frequency was announced as a result of system-wide improvements taking place across the Klang Valley. The escalators at a number of LRT stations are also out of service. According to netizens, RapidKL has stated that they would only be fixed by September 2022.
