NEW YORK: Lady Gaga took home the top honour of Artist of the Year at the MTV Video Music Awards, edging out Taylor Swift and Beyoncé. The pop star, currently touring with her Mayhem album, accepted the award in a striking black ruffled dress with purple accents. Gaga, who led the night with 12 nominations including for her duet Die with a Smile with Bruno Mars, thanked fans for their unwavering support. The ceremony, hosted by LL Cool J at UBS Arena, featured tributes to Ozzy Osbourne and performances from stars including Ricky Martin and Mariah Carey.
