The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, has expressed his admiration for the phrase “Segulai Sejalai,” an Iban expression that signifies harmony and togetherness. He mentioned this during his attendance at the national-level Gawai Dayak celebration in Kuching.
Sarawak’s diversity
Anwar stated that whenever he talks about unity, cooperation, and strengthening these values, he will mention “Segulai Sejalai.” Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud, the Governor of Sarawak, and his wife were prominent figures at the event, along with other government officials. Anwar emphasized the importance of learning from Sarawak’s example in fostering unity among diverse communities to build a stronger nation.
Additionally, he announced a RM10 million allocation for the Native Customary Rights land survey initiative in Sarawak and pledged funding for the restoration of places of worship in the state. Douglas Uggah, in his speech, called for increased funding for NCR land survey works, highlighting the significant areas yet to be surveyed.
