KUALA LUMPUR: DAP MP Lim Lip Eng has cheekily told PAS to start its own airline if it dislikes Malaysia Airlines serving alcohol. Mocking the Islamist party’s call to ban booze onboard, Lim said in Parliament that even airlines from Muslim-majority nations like Emirates and Etihad serve alcohol to passengers.

“If PAS hates it that much, start PAS Airlines — let’s see how long it lasts before going bankrupt,” he quipped during the Budget 2026 debate. PAS MP Hasnizan Harun had earlier argued that Muslim crew and passengers feel uneasy serving or being near alcohol. Lim also urged authorities to probe PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang for allegedly claiming the party hides its PM candidate to avoid sabotage.
