NRD Reports 1.3 Million Lost MyKad Cases Since 2020

According to the NRD website, replacing a lost MyKad costs RM110 for the first time, RM310 for the second, and RM1,010 for subsequent losses. More than 1.3 million replacement applications were recorded by the National Registration Department (NRD) over the past five years.

Director-General Badrul Hisham Alias cited negligence, natural disasters, and crime as causes. He emphasized the misuse potential of lost identity cards, which can lead to crimes and fraud. Fines are imposed for negligence. Cardholders must report lost cards to prevent misuse.
