KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 26 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has urged the public not to spread false allegations linking Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to multiple foreign bank accounts. The viral claims, resurfacing on TikTok, originated from a 2013 parliamentary statement by former Gerakan MP Liang Teck Meng, which alleged Anwar had 20 overseas accounts, including in Israel.

MACC clarified that its predecessor, the Anti-Corruption Agency, investigated the matter in 1999 and found no wrongdoing. The findings were later affirmed in 2009. The commission stressed that investigations remain transparent and warned against sharing baseless information.
