PUTRAJAYA: The government will proceed with using the MyKad system to implement targeted RON95 fuel subsidies by month’s end, said Second Finance Minister Amir Hamzah Azizan. He told the Senate that petrol station operators are working with authorities to ensure smooth implementation, with eligibility determined through the Central Database Hub (Padu). Former economy minister Rafizi Ramli, however, cautioned against the approach, urging direct cash transfers instead to avoid glitches similar to those during the Sara aid rollout. MCA also voiced concern, warning that system failures could disrupt the subsidy rationalisation programme if not properly fine-tuned.
