Malaysia Launches 2030 Policy to Boost Disaster-Resilient Schools

Malaysia has reaffirmed its commitment to disaster-resilient education through the launch of the National Disaster Risk Reduction Policy 2030, aligning with the UN’s Sendai Framework. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi shared this during a “Safe Schools” ministerial roundtable at the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in Geneva.

Malaysia Launches 2030 Policy to Boost Disaster-Resilient Schools

A key initiative is the Disaster Risk Reduction Education Module developed with the Education Ministry, UNICEF Malaysia, and NADMA for nearly 7,800 schools. Malaysia is also building RM135 million worth of Permanent Relief Centres and has engaged 44,000 citizens through community programmes. The nation aims to promote global collaboration.
