Malaysia Airlines confirmed that two international flights — MH160 bound for Doha and MH156 to Jeddah — were turned back or diverted on Friday (27 Feb 2026) after receiving a mid-flight airspace risk advisory, the carrier said in a statement. Both flights safely returned to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) with passengers later offered alternative arrangements amid heightened regional risk concerns.

The turnbacks followed established conflict-area diversion protocols once the advisory was issued, with MH160 returning to KLIA and MH156 diverting to Chennai, where passengers are being assisted for onward travel. Malaysia Airlines said passenger safety remained its top priority throughout the disruption.
In its statement, the airline emphasised it continues to closely monitor the evolving airspace situation and will implement all necessary measures to maintain the safety and reliability of its flight operations amid external risk factors.
