Malaysia recorded 2,467 domestic violence cases as of April 2025, following 7,116 incidents in 2024. Terengganu reported the highest rate per capita, with 379 cases last year and 104 so far this year.
Malaysia Logs Over 2,400 Domestic Violence Cases in First Four Months of 2025
Deputy Minister Dr Noraini Ahmad said many cases remain unreported due to fear and stigma, and stressed that domestic abuse is a criminal offence and human rights violation. The government is expanding support programmes such as Aku Wanita@KRT, K-Chat group therapy, and initiatives like MATAHARI, IRIS, and Skuad WAJA to raise awareness, build resilience, and empower survivors through legal education and emotional healing.
