Malaysia welcomed 42.2 million visitors in 2025, an 11.2 % increase from the 38 million recorded the year before, laying a strong foundation for the upcoming Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the figures show sustained momentum in tourism, a key engine for the nation’s economic growth.
Malaysia Shows Strong Visitors in 2025
The government plans to strengthen coordination across ministries, state governments and the private sector to ensure that tourism continues to drive job creation, GDP contribution and fiscal resilience as VM2026 unfolds.
Officials emphasised strategic initiatives, such as revisiting the Malaysia My Second Home programme and premium visa offerings, as well as enhancing cruise and transit tourism opportunities to extend stays and boost visitor spending.
