Netizens took to Twitter upon seeing what the Anime fans chose to wear for this year’s Animefest at Paradigm mall. The original poster of this tweet was being sarcastic saying that most Anime fans claim that events like these aren’t harming anyone.
The outfit in question was a maid’s outfit that was being worn by a man and he is chained up by a hijabi girl that is somewhat in cosplay as well. Other netizens mentioned that if we try to keep a good name for our religion (Islam) we would get hate for it, but Anime fans that dress this way can keep defending their events?
Some claim that these are not true Anime fans, and people like these are ruining the community’s name in Malaysia. It is agreeable that cosplayers should be allowed to express their characters or personality, however there are limits to such expressions especially in public.
