Typically, most cities would have strict control on what goes on their side walks. However, in Kuala Lumpur, it appears to be free for all. From motorcycles riding freely down on these pavements to food vendors opening shop on it. The people who are supposed to walk on them end up walking on busy roads.
Malaysians displeased with food vendors occupying side walks
Some users add that they understand these vendors are wanting to make a living, but taking the entire space is a massive inconvenience. Pedestrians appear to be overlooked when it comes to the societal frame of mind.
Others are placing the blame on the local city planners as they sometimes would not account for these local vendors. Regardless, there are districts that have dedicated spaces for them, but it appears that not all would have the same privilege.
