Three Malaysian men, Khairul Ikmal Kamisan, 25, Wan Mohd Azizi Abdul Male, 20, and Dahlan Yahya, 43, were sentenced to five months in jail on October 14 for illegally importing marine creatures into Singapore without permits. They were caught smuggling 75 hard corals, 10 soft corals, and two coco worms, sought after by aquarium enthusiasts. The illicit cargo was discovered during an inspection at Singapore’s Tuas Checkpoint on July 11, 2024. The men, employed by a Johor Bahru logistics company, had been instructed by their supervisor to deliver the goods but failed to verify the contents.
