Cisgender is a term that is used in America for individuals who are not transgender. However, it seems that there is a rise of the woke ideology coming to the Malaysian shores. Some individuals are insisting that both straight and gay individuals are to be called “cisgender” as they are not transitioning.
Malaysians are refusing to be called cisgender
There are biological women in Malaysia who are stating that this has to stop. However, many do not mind if an individual is transgender as it is their prerogative. Some have even made possible transphobic remarks by stating that transgender individuals will never be the opposite gender they are born as.
In addition to this, others are stating that those who are comfortable with the gender they are born with have privilege. Claims that if an individual transitions, most of these privileges are gone. There are still a solid number of Malaysians who are vehemently against having trans individuals in public spaces.
On a lighter note, there are some netizens making light of this entire situation. A user states that in Malaysia, there is no “cisgender” but there’s only “cis-leleh.” Cis-leleh is a reference to a cake that is called “kek cheese leleh. “
